THE ACCORD CARD FOR YOUNG PERSONS

Cashless Catering

The Accord card is used to load and spend money at the catering facilities in the school. Money is loaded to the card, stored on its electronic purse and spent at tills in the dining area. Parents and guardians can top-up their child's Accord Card online. This new method of top-up means there is no need to give children money to take to school to load onto their Accord Card. This safe, secure and convenient method of payment can be used by entering the Accord Card number and secondary school online. For full details and to top-up visit:www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/accordpayment Students entitled to free school meals have this entitlement electronically loaded to their card and £2.20 is automatically credited to their card each day. These cards look exactly the same as other cards and are used in exactly the same way helping to remove any stigma attached with free school meals.

Young Scot Scheme

The Accord card carries the Young Scot logo which entitles the card holder to a range of discounts at a local, national and European level via the Young Scot Scheme (see www.youngscot.org for more details). The Young Scot scheme also offers a range of support services for this age group through the National Youth Information Portal covering issues such as health and finance.

PASS Hologram

The card has a PASS hologram allowing the card to be used for proof of age at retailers. The Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) is the UK's national guarantee scheme for proof-of-age cards.

sQuidcard Electronic Cash Purse

The sQuidcard product is an electronic cash purse that enables cardholders to place money on to their card and spend those funds at participating outlets. These outlets are both Council premises (e.g. leisure facilities and libraries) and other private retailers. The sQuidcard product is available to all cardholders of all ages offering a fast, convenient and secure alternative to cash payments. It is a socially inclusive product as it is free, cardholders do not require a bank account to have a sQuid purse and as it is a prepaid card (as apposed to a credit or debit card) it is not possible to spend more than is held in the electronic purse.

Library Membership

The Accord card is used as a library membership card at all Council libraries and library membership can be applied for when applying for an Accord card.
