Faculty of Art, Design and Technology ‘Skills Icons’ Design Competition

The D.Y.W. / Wider Achievement (Developing the young workforce) group set the ‘Skills Icons’ Design Competition brief to the AD & CDT Departments.

The requirement was to design a set of icons to represent the 11 core Personal Attributes: Literacy, Numeracy, Digital Learning, Creativity, Problem Solving, Enterprise, Self-Management, Self-Awareness, Leadership, Teamwork & Citizenship.

The images below and presentation show all the hard work that went into designing and selecting the winning designs along with the help from our wonderful Gray’s School of Art Visual Communication design graduate Miss Scott.

My Future Aspirations Art Competition

Launched 10 years ago, My Future Aspirations Art competition is a collaboration between Thorpe Molloy McCulloch Recruitment Ltd and the secondary schools in Aberdeen city and shire. My Future Aspirations challenges young people in S1 and S2 to think about their career dreams, what they are going to do when they leave school, who they would like to become and how they can contribute to the wider society. Pupils illustrate their future career aspirations through art, choosing any medium from paper to video.

Following hundreds of entrees from Aberdeen Grammar Schools Art Department, 8 students work was selected (Only 8 entries are allowed per school!)

Public voting is now open on Facebook with the People’s Choice public vote deciding this year’s winner.

Online voting is open until 21 June and the winner will be announced soon after! We would love pupils and family to get involved in helping one of Aberdeen Grammar’s students to be a winner!
