“Charlie House is delighted to be partnering with Aberdeen Grammar School for the 2016-2017 school year. A local charity started by parents, Charlie House supports children and young people in the North-east of Scotland with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. There are over 400 different conditions which may shorten a child’s life and in Grampian alone, there are over 1500 of these very special children. Life is quite different for these families; the children often need round the clock care leaving little time for siblings, parents are faced with the prospect that they will outlive their children and many families have never been on a holiday.
We aim to do much more than raise funds through this partnership with the school, although this is an important part of our work. Working together with pupils, staff and parents, we hope to raise awareness of these special children’s need for help and support right here in Aberdeen. Our partnership will help us to make connections locally, educate and inspire pupils and create opportunities for all. As a former pupil of Aberdeen Grammar School, I am incredibly honoured to have the chance to work closely with the school to help change the lives of local children with life-limiting conditions. Because as our motto says; life is precious.”
