A Taste of Hospitality – Open Day
Date: Tuesday, March 6, 2018
Time: 10am – 2.30pm
Venue: The Aberdeen Altens Hotel, Aberdeen
With the food and drink industry requiring 27,000 new recruits across the country by 2030 and tourism set to bring in up to £6.5 billion annually by 2020, a unique opportunity is available for young people to excel in a growing and diverse industry.
In celebration of Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018, Taste of Grampian (the organisers of the annual food and drink event held at Thainstone) are giving young people the opportunity to experience a hands-on introduction to the hospitality industry when many high-profile organisations within the local hospitality sector will host a ‘Taste of Hospitality’ event.
The day will begin with a fun energiser by The Aberdeen Altens Hotel Leisure Club Manager to set you up for the challenges ahead whilst demonstrating how the leisure industry is vital to hospitality, followed by interactive workshops based on key departments within hotel hospitality showing the diversity in the industry and how many skills are transferable.
Following the open day, young people will have the opportunity to register for a competition in which four people will win a place on the organising committee for The Year of Young People stage at Taste of Grampian which will take place in June. The winners of the competition will receive a HIT Scotland Scholarship in an area of the industry that they are interested in as well as an overall winner also receiving an apprenticeship with a local hotel.
The event is open to anyone aged 15 – 24 who is interested in finding out more about the diversity of the hospitality industry. For more information and to book your place, please see Mr Foster to book a place ASAP.
